Hazmat on Hurley Rd.

On December 29 2018, at 0455 hrs. Wagontown Fire Company responded to Fling’s Towing Inc., 100 block of Hurley Rd in West Brandywine for a Hazardous Materials incident which stemmed from an auto accident in a neighboring municipality. The vehicle involved in the accident contained materials which spilled in the vehicle and a cloud was seen coming from the vehicle. Chester County Hazardous Materials Unit responded along with Fire company crews and Ambulance from Westwood EMS. The incident was placed under control at 0645 hrs.

During the incident, residents that surrounded the facility were advised to stay indoors and to keep windows closed until the incident was handled by the Ready Chesco Reverse 911 system. This system is a voluntary sign up program offered through Chester County to notify residents in the event of an emergency such as this. The incident was quickly and safely handled and there were no injuries to emergency responders or tow operators involved in the incident.
