Last night at approximately 1700, the Brandywine Creek Forestry crew, which includes members of the Wagontown Volunteer Fire Company, were dispatched to the 900 Block of May Post Office Road, near the White Oak Campground, in Strasburg Township for a woods fire.

As the fire got under control around 7:15 p.m., the crew was then requested to assist with a bridge fire in Martic Township, at the Martic Forge Trestle Bridge which produced embers that had ignited the adjacent woods.

The crews organized and cut a fire line on the top of the western slope, on the eastern side of the river and down to the access road, cutting off any fire spreading to the residential homes located along the river. The crew remained on assignment checking for hot spots and monitoring and assessing the controlled area for hazards and fire progression. The crew again returned to the top side and debriefed with other crews before demobilizing and returning home.
