Tonight while several members attended the Fire II program at the public training center the balance of the company finished our review of vehicle rescue at Flings Towing yard on Hurley Rd.

Wagontown has been fortunate enough to get 4 new members in the past few weeks, 3 of which will be starting the Fall Fire I program at the Public Training center. So we needed to finish up our rescue review tonight.

Crews loaded up and headed over to Flings where VRT instructor and Battalion Chief Dave Stein did a review of stabilization and our vehicle rescue processes. Then the groups split and each group did door removals under the watchful eyes of the line officers, and together removed the roof and ended with a dash roll of our vehicle.

These are the general basis of any vehicle extrication which allows for the vehicle to be removed around and away from the trapped occupants. This practice provides the proficiency training needed which allows for us to work on learned skills in a time of emergency.

The newer members were shown what and who we go about vehicle extrication in this process. The groups then trained with various other tools carried on the Rescue. This allowed for all of us to re-familiarize ourselves with these tools and how they work to make our jobs easier.

Wagontown would like to thank Flings Towing for providing the space and vehicle to train on.
