Tonight after our surprise delivery of the new brush truck our training seemed kind of fitting. Tonight was part one of our annual Wildland Firefighting refresher training.

Topics covered in the classroom portion were: Fire line safety, PPE (personal protective equipment), policies and procedures, vehicle operations, Structure Protection and a host of other topics. Wagontown is part of the Bureau of Forestry's resources for large scale Wildland fires and we are called upon from time to time to assist on large fires.

We also have a large area of woodlands and one of the largest county parks we cover, so training on this topic is very important with the spring fire season right around the corner.

The second half of the night Forest Fire Wardens Touchton and Peters reviewed hand tools and equipment carried on our brush trucks and reviewed safe vehicle operations with the crew.

Part II will be a practical session in the woods as soon as the weather breaks.
