Every year the members look forward to going back to school in October for our annual fire safety program at Kings Highway. This year was no exception, upon arriving at 09:15 the schedule of classes was given to us and from there we visited every class in the school from Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Many years back we partnered with the school to present fire safety information twice a year, these times were in the Spring and then again in the Fall with Fire Prevention week.

The programs were set based on the learn not to burn curriculum and have been refined as technology and standards have been updated. But each year the kids look forward to seeing us.

Each grade has a specific area in safety we target along with reviews of what they have learned in years past, this allows for a set program of teaching the children fire safety.

One of the highlights the children enjoy is eating lunch with a firefighter, so the crew rotates their lunches to ensure at least one if not more of the firefighters are at every lunch time. Then as we went from class to class and on the playground at recess, the kids enjoyed our visit.

Wagontown would like to thank the staff of Kings Highway for assisting us in getting our fire safety message out and taking time out of their day for our visit.
