Early this morning the crew in Rescue 35 relocated to Avondale Fire Co. Station 23, this was to allow the company to pay respects to their fallen brother Charles "Chico" Cocciolone who was a respected member of their company. Shortly after arriving and a brief exchange of information with Chief Cole (23) the Rescue, Ambulance 23 and Medic 94 was sent to Newark Rd in the area of the Rt. 1 bypass for the accident. On arrival crews found a 2 vehicle accident at the off ramp of the North Bound side of Rt. 1. Crews assisted EMS and then went to work controlling the hazards. The 2 vehicles had hit almost head on and there was a large amount of debris and fluids spilled, crews used the oil dry carried on the rescue to control these fluids. Also during this a small fire in the engine of one vehicle was quickly extinguished with an extinguisher. After working with the New Garden PD and tow company the scene was cleared and the rescue returned to Station 23 to continue to cover for them.

Then Just after lunch the Rescue covering for Avondale was alerted to assist the West Grove Fire Company for a fire on Sienna Drive in London Britain Twp. The Crew quickly loaded on the truck and responded following Ambulance 23-1 to the scene. Tanker 22, Ladder 22 and Rescue 35 arrived on scene seconds apart when they were assigned by Sgt. 22 (Nafzinger) to assist with stretching an attack line to the rear of the house where the fire was located. The crews then wet down the area and assisted in checking for extension as this was a fire on the rear porch. With no extension found Chief 22 (Weer) then released the balance of the companies as they waited for the Fire Marshal's to arrive. The rescue again returned to Station 23 where we were soon released.
