Shortly after 16:30 companies were dispatched to Nevins Way in the Western part of the township for a chimney fire. Chief 35 (Ziegler) responded and advised that the caller had a chimney fire. Chief 35 arrived and found the house back a very long driveway, with the weather the way it was one engine could make it up the drive. Upon investigation found a working chimney fire with no extension. The wood stove tied into the chimney was found to be loaded with creosote and was burning, also the chimney length to the roof was packed and on fire. Crews from 35 (Wagontown) and 34 (Martins Corner) went to work cleaning the firebox, chimney and the clean out behind the fire place which proved to be an extensive job.  With access restricted the balance of the units were held on Nevins Way and crews had to walk up the driveway. Tower 28 (Parkesburg) was on the box, however was released due to access and crews used ground ladders to access the roof. Due to the time consuming job, Engine 34-1 was available onscene and Engine 37-2 (Modena) was requested to cover the Wagontown Station while crews worked. With the fire under control just after 17:30 crews began to wrap up and clear the scene.
