By Wagontown Fire Prevention Division
June 26, 2018

With 4th of July right around the corner, we here at Wagontown would like to remind everyone to be especially careful when dealing with any home bought fire works for your celebrations.

The new Pennsylvania Law states the following:

Display fireworks – the type you see at city, borough and township celebrations – remain legal only for professional pyrotechnicians.

You must be at least 18 years old to buy and use legal fireworks in Pennsylvania.

Fireworks may not be used on public or private property without the owner's permission.

You may not throw fireworks or sparklers from or into a motor vehicle or building, or at a person.

You may not use fireworks or sparklers while under the influence of alcohol, a controlled substance "or another drug," according to the law

And, fireworks may not be used within 150 feet of an occupied structure, which kind of  limits their use in the city and suburbs.

Some municipalities do address fireworks in their ordinances, check with your municipality about any ordinances relating to fireworks before your celebrations.

So please use caution and use extreme care around children when using any type of fire work device. Attached to this article is a briefing on various outdoor safety items to help you enjoy the holidays safely.
