House Fire - Valley Twp. Working smoke alarms alert neighbors

At 1354 hours today the Westwood, Sadsburyville and Wagontown Fire Companies were dispatched for a house fire in the 900 block of Wagontown Road in the Rock Run section of Valley Township. Wagontown Deputy Chief Reber arrived first reporting smoke showing from the exterior of the 2 story duplex type structure.

Engine 35 arriving first due knocked down the flames in the kitchen area and checked for extension. Engine 44-5 arriving second due secured the utilities and set up positive pressure ventilation. Engine 31-1 arrived and stood by as the Rapid Intervention Team but was quickly broke down as the fire was under control in minutes.

Westwood Deputy Chief Scott held the Wagontown Road Command, Assistant Chief Grossman had operations with Deputy Reber holding accountability and no injuries were reported.

This fire was called in by the neighbor because there were WORKING smoke detectors in the house to alert of a fire.
