Last night at 23:14 Hours the company was dispatched for Brush 35-2 to assist the Downingtown Fire Department in the 300 block of Boot Rd. The fire was on an abandoned train trestle which had to be accessed by the old rail bed that ran off of Boot Rd. The bridge has been a major part of Downingtown's history for quite some time.
Downingtown Fire was onscene working to extinguish a fire that was occurring on the old bridge; however water supply to the scene was a problem. Brush 35-2 filled that gap by shuttling 2 loads of 1200 gallons a piece to the scene to assist in extinguishing the bridge. Brush 2 has the ability to navigate rough terrain to deliver a good amount of water to support firefighting operations in remote areas.
Wagontown was glad to be able to help gap this need and provide a water source at the fire scene.
Great work by all who was there as the fire was kept to a minimal area on the historic bridge overlooking Downingtown. Crews cleared the scene and were back in service by 01:30 in the morning. |
