October 17, 2016

Early on Monday morning the Company along with Westwood, Coatesville, Coatesville VA, Sadsburyville and Honey Brook Fire Companies were dispatched to the 100 block of Water Works Road in West Caln Township.

Arriving within minutes Battalion Chief Sly(Westwood) reported an active fire from a roof top at the dispatched address. Engine 44-5, dual Ambulances from Westwood and mutual aid were all responding.

Deputy 35 (Reber) arrived next and set up operations and established the Command, Engine 35 and Rescue 35 arrived first and stretched an 1-3/4" into the building to suppress the fire.

Chief 35 (Ziegler) arrived and assumed the Command and Deputy took Operations, crews both on the interior and roof operations found the fire located in the middle part of the large commercial building. Once inside firefighters encountered a moderate smoke condition and located a fire at the ceiling level near the center of the building. Ladder 41 set up in the rear and made access to the roof for vertical ventilation and to work the fire area from the topside.

The fire was quickly knocked down and crews from the assist companies began ventilation. Engine 31-2 stood by at a nearby hydrant for a water supply to the scene.

Water supply on the incident scene was supplied by Engine 44-5 and Engine 33-5 and once the fire was knocked and extension was checked Engine 31-2 was released from the hydrant and brought to the scene.

The Chester County and State Police Fire Marshals were onscene to handle the investigation. Once complete crews completed the overhaul and companies returned in about 2 hours with 35 units clearing around 07:30
