May 6, 2016

On Wednesday night the second half of our scheduled training programs was conducted by the Fire Instructors of the Chester County Fire Training. Tonight's topic was trailer operations which is the second part of a series we took on with the addition of our New ATV.

Last week Instructor Piersol conducted the ATV operations classroom portion which covered the needed training for the safe operations of an All-Terrain Vehicle. Wagontown was fortunate enough to be granted one through the Southeast Region Task Force which is managed by the Chester County Department of Emergency Services.

Wagontown covers the largest county park and has several private and township owned open lands areas with walking trails, so the chance of needing an ATV to quickly access a victim of an incident was crucial. This need was met by the grant and we were able to secure an ATV.

So prior to placing the ATV in service a training course was held along with a trailer safety course all ran through VFIS which is a leading partner in drivers training as they insure most Emergency Services agencies.

So tonight Instructors Sirna and Regan did the lesson on trailer safety, this showed the proper way to securely haul a trailer with a vehicle. How to check, maintain your trailer, along with proper driving techniques.
Safety is important to us as well as good quality training which allows us to provide the highest quality of service possible.

This Saturday members will complete the practical session with trailer operations, as well as the ongoing training for drivers on the ATV.
