November 21, 2015

On Saturday at 11:48 hours the Engine was dispatched as part of the house fire assignment to the 200 block of Elmwood Lane in Caln Township. The engine responded a short time later and was the second arriving engine company behind Engine 76 and Ladder 41.

Deputy 35 (Reber) had arrived just prior to the apparatus and gave the report of smoke showing from the garage that was attached to the house. Members of Engine 35 assisted Engine 76 in putting a 2 1/2 line in service when they arrived. The crew advanced the line into the house and then re-positioned the line to the garage after making a quick hit in the kitchen area.

Lt 38B (Taylor) arrived and assumed Command while Deputy 35 held the Operations Section. 35 members forced entry into the garage and worked to control the fire in the garage while other crew members worked the interior working to remove the pets inside.

Additional companies arrived from Lionville and Modena who went to work with fire attack, Search and Rescue and laddering the building working to control the fire and stopping the advancement of extension.

As additional companies arrived they were placed in the manpower pool and assigned to various tasks as needed on the fire grounds. Good teamwork by all on the scene quickly placed this incident under control and worked together to complete the assignment in about 2 hours.

Wagontown units remained and assisted the Thorndale crews with mop up and clean up services and then were released by Command 38.

Units: Engine 35, Tac 35 and the Chiefs

Mutual Aid: 38, 76, 41, 44, 37, 45, 46, 47, 49 and the Chester County FM's and PSP Fire Marsdhal
