July 29, 2015

Tonight's training was made possible through the Bucks County Fire Training; Wagontown for several years now is a partner with the Bucks County Fire Training. Tonight Instructor Jamie Rohrer provided a refresher course on our ropes and knots. Jamie is no stranger to Wagontown, as he has done a number of Rescue Classes in the past and some upcoming classes in the future.

Tonight’s topics where review of ropes and knots, this was very essential as we have some new members, 5 of which who will be attending the fall Firefighter I program at the Chester County Public Training Campus. After the review of the normally used knots we went over and set up the "Z-Rig" which is used to haul patients or items up from different angles and with that reviewed the lowering systems needed to get to the patient when below grade.

With Hibernia Park and a few other rugged areas we need to ensure we keep our rope skills to a good level, so when faced with incidents we are prepared to respond.

Instructor Rohrer then went over some different methods of rope work including a change of direction for pulling around objects or due to obstructions. Once the night was complete, a review was held and members returned the equipment to the apparatus.

Thanks again to Chief Rohrer for coming down and facilitating a good night of training.
