By 35 Volunteers
December 14, 2014

Today at 12:28 hours Station 35, Ambulance 144, Medic 93 and Station 31 for an Engine and QRS were dispatched to the 1100 Block of West Kings Hwy for the accident reported serious. Just after the completion of this dispatch the call was upgraded to entrapment.

Lancaster Chief 49 was the first one onscene who provided information of two patients and entrapment in which the Chester County fire radio upgraded the assignment adding Ambulance 44-1 and the 2nd Medic from 93 to the assignment. During this Ambulance 144 requested an aeromedical helicopter and Jeffstat was placed on standby.

Lieutenant 35 arrived onscene confirming the report and gave Engine 31-1 and Rescue 35 their orders and crews went to work.
Chief 35 (Ziegler) assumed the Kings Hwy. Command, while crews were busy removing the doors, taking the roof off and then lifting the dash to remove the driver who was trapped. Ambulance 144 had removed the passenger first as they were not trapped in the vehicle.

The two crews worked very well together and had the extrication complete at 12:54 hours, about 14 minutes after the arrival of Rescue 35 and Engine 31-1.

During this Capt. 31 (Brecht) established the LZ at Kings Hwy Elementary School and Engine 35 arrived with Asst. 35 (Reber) and set up the LZ for Jeffstat.

Ambulance 144 handled the transport to the LZ while Ambulance 44-1 transported the other patient to a local hospital.

Crews then assisted PD with the debris and Fire Police closed Route 340 for the investigation. Fire Police cleared around 17:30 hours after the PD was finished their investigation.

Wagontown would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to those involved in the accident.

Units: Rescue 35, Engine 35, Utility 35, Command 35 and Ambulance 144

Mutual Aid: Station 31, Ambulance 44-1, Medic 93, Jeffstat and West Caln PD
