August 9, 2014

After getting word of receiving Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Department of Homeland Security we began the process of specifying a new brush truck. The new truck was going to provide the ability to haul more manpower for the initial incident, provide the ability to carry more equipment securely to the scene as well as provide the latest in safety measures for the crew during response, scene and return to the station.

The Specs are as follows:

F350 Super Duty with enhanced suspension system upgraded electrical and cooling systems. 6.7 liter Diesel Engine with 4 door crew cab.

The body will be of a utility style that provides compartmentation to hold equipment securely and out of the elements. There will be an inverter to provide power for lights and other accessories as needed.

All LED warning and DOT lights along with LED Scene lighting shall be equipped on the unit.

Firefighting capabilities will be provided by the CET Skid Unit that has a 21 HP motor for the 250 GPM pump and 250 gallon tank. The pump will provide at least 1 1 3/4 handline at 125 GPM at 100 PSI. The Unit will also carry various other size wildland attack lines down to the 200' 3/4" booster reel for the unit.

The bid award was given to 10-8 EVS of New Holland who is obtaining the chassis from New Holland Ford and the body will be Knapheide Utility Body which was also arranged by 10-8 which will provide large compartments in which to store equipment. The CET pump and tank skid unit will all be delivered to 10-8 for installation and final assembly.

The unit will be painted white over red to match our current fleet. So stay tuned for further developments in the process. Wagontown would also like to thank all who bided on the truck, we decided to go local for ease of service should any issues arise.

Units: New Brush 35-1
